How to install Epson AcuLaser C1100 on OpenSuse 11.4
Hi, Managed to install OpenSuse 11.4. How do I install my Epson AcuLaser c1100 printer on my Gnome desktp. Previously I had the following link when I had OpenSuse 11. http://openprinting.org/show_printer...AcuLaser_C1100
but this is not working.
From what I can see AcuLaser and Action Laser are two different models. My Printer is AcuLaser c1100.
I went to Epsons page http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/laser/DL1.do and downloaded For SuSE/Mandrake (Epson-ALC1100-filter-cups-1.2-0.i586.rpm) file but it did not install failing dependency it said. Besides my system is 64 bit
On http://localhost:631/admin it automatically recognises my printer but under 'Model' my printer is not listed on the pull down list.
Why is it so difficult to add the only printer I have. I dont even want to think about adding my scanner.
I already gave you the only advice I have, really. Ensure that the gutenprint driver package is installed and then use your printer setup utility to search for the model you have. As I said, Epson is fairly well supported by free drivers, at least in printing.
On the other hand, openprinting is showing the other early AL-C series models as "paperweight winprinters", so I can't say. Your previous post implies, but doesn't say outright, that you had it working earlier. If so, perhaps you had it working before with the driver of a related model?
Otherwise, you'll probably just have to follow the links in my sig and do some research.
As for the avasys version, it looks like they don't offer precompiled binaries for 64bit. You'd have to download the source and compile it yourself.
Pretty much the same advice will apply to your scanner, but lets take it one problem at a time.
Now that is not there I am unable to get the right cups file to do so.
The system is recognising the printer and if I am using for instance open office document to print it is showing the printer there but not printing. Error message comes up as 'printer stopped'. This is how it shows on local host. (http://localhost:631/printers/EPSON_AL-C1100)
EPSON_AL-C1100 (Idle, Accepting Jobs, Not Shared)
Description: EPSON AL-C1100
Location: Home
Driver: Local System V Printer (grayscale)
Connection: usb://EPSON/AL-C1100
Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=unknown
Is there anything else I am supposed to add files or dependendcies? Please advice.
Text printing is fine. But printing photos does not give the proper colour. When printing a photo or a picture using colour it looks more like a greyscale. Guess I probably have to use windows programme to print colour documents.
