How to get KPilot to detect Palm Z22

I have a Palm Z22 handheld and I have Kubuntu on a desktop PC. I am trying to sync my Palm Pilot with KPilot, but I can't get it to even autodetect the device. I went to KPilot.org and they say that the Z22 should work with KPilot.

Is the visor module being loaded? Is pilot-link installed and working? If you're using udev when you plug in the z22 /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 device files should be created and if pilot-link is correctly installed a link, /dev/pilot should be created pointing to /dev/ttyUSB1

Once you point kpilot to /dev/pilot you should be fine. I sync my z22 with gpilot/evolution and jpilot.

I am really new at Linux.

There is a KPilot manual that was installed with KPilot. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem very helpful for this issue.

It tries to auto-detect my device, but it just times out every time and can't seem to connect to it.
