How to configure an HP PSC 1410v All-In-One ?

Hello. I just bought my self an HP PSC 1410v All-In-One, due to the price, and the functionality it promised. I know it would work with Windows (not of much importance to me) and I hope it can be setup to work with Linux. I would LOVE to have both the printing and the scanning functionality in linux, but I can settle for just the printing.

I run Fedora Core 4. I am not really a newbie.

Please advise me on how to properly configure this deviice.

you need cups, foomatic and hplip.
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/

in general, hp printers are very well supported. you will have no problems using the scanner funcionality.

My printer does not show up in their list of supported devices there. What next?

try with a ppd file for a similar printer, the psc 1310 for example. if that doesn't work, try this:

I have gone through multiple attempts, to the point where I have 'successfully' installed the printer in CUPS and another time in system-config-printer. However, when I test print, nothing ever comes out.

Please advise.
