What I did is I went to
www.Linuxprinting.org and looked at their printer compatibility database and found the printer that I wanted that was listed as 'works perfectly' under Linux and I also looked under my FC2-i386 printer listing in the printer configuration/install program. I wrote down on paper the printers listed in the printer listing of the printer installation program and I chose a printer that was listed in both. I chose a printer in the
www.linuxprinting.org listing under the brand name I wanted under the column named works perfectly and went and bought it and the printer part installed perfectly. The scanner was a little harder to set up. I almost gave up until I did some googling and checking linuxprinting.org's notes on this particularly printer/scanner/copier. I then opened a terminal and typed "ptal-init setup" and pressed enter. It then asked if I wanted to scan for any parallel port scanners and I said no. Then it asked me if I wanted to scan for any USB scanners and I said yes and pressed enter. Then it found one and I pressed enter. Then it was time to press enter again and it was setup. I then had to either power off the printer/scanner/copier and power it back on again or else unplug the usb cable from the printer/scanner/copier and plug it back in; or else try rebooting. It should work;mine does.
Hope all goes well.
Sincerely,
Jean Brown Harrell
