I am running mandrake 10.1 distro and i am very new to linux although i would class myself as an experienced windows user.
I am trying to connect to the internet with speedtouch 330 modem (the silver one) i can see in the hardware list that it is recognised, and i have tryed running the config tool but to know avail.
But I'd consider buying a proper bit of hardware.
Like a Linksys ADSL modem/router. (about 50 quid)
Then you have a LAN interface which will work whatever
Windows/Linux you run, with the added benefit of multiple ports and an inbuilt firewall. (Assuming you have a working LAN card!)
Then you've got a nice bit of kit that will ALLways work with any computer or ISP.
Saves a lot of aggro believe me!
i trhink u should use a dialer like
kppp
this will require kde also
alternative to this is wvdial
but u should be having support for ur modem first
so when u use kppp, there is an option of query modem
so choose ur modem device and then query modem,if u get some results then ur modem has support and u can connect to the internet using kppp
