how to check total DRAM & type of DRAM in my linux machine?


how to check total DRAM & type of DRAM in my linux machine?

I know dmidecode command can be used but i do not have admin access.

Hi,

If you do not have admin rights on the machine then why the query to check ram? Problems? If so then report to admin.

i want to know how the spec of my workstation.
There is no way to know the type of RAM? like DDR2, DDR3 etc?

dmidecode --type 17

lshw

Theres a few other commands that will show you the type and installed amount of RAM in your machine, but none of them run without admin access.

Or you could just look in top, or whatever system monitor you have, that will show you the amount of RAM. It wont show you the type of RAM, or if you have 4GB+ installed on 32bit (without PAE) etc., but since you dont have admin rights you cant change that anyway....
