Question How to change the monitor after installtion?

After installtion Redhat 8.0 I changed my monitor to ViewSonic E771 (using it through KVM) After rebooting the GUI is not comming up. Anyidea how to change the monitor setup from Linux Rescue? I can access my image setup but can find how to change the monitor.

Try
redhat-config-xfree86

however, it usually gets to 'Trying default config' when it fails to load the old one, then fails itself. They really screwed up with the new tool. The best option. if you can, put the old monitor back on, bring it up, set to generic monitor, then reboot, swap it out, then change it to new monitor. The new tool doesn't even allow you to test, so be sure to record the backup in case the new settings don't stick.

Exactly similar to video card upgrade...hence this site I created, with this blurb...

Well, I have emailed Redhat about 25 times, and I never get a response. Pretty useful tool, it has to have a valid X config to fix a non working X config! Do you still have the old monitor to put back, change to generic low res monitor, then swap in the new one. You can
try
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config
to get you started. Your mileage may vary. I never got it to work.

Cool, then xf86config worked? Or was it the other swap thing.

If xf86config, I will update that page to say that it works for monitor swapping.
