How to change monitor type?

I have installed RH9 with IBM E54 monitor and 1152x... resolution. Now i want to connect the same system with Compaq S510 Monitor. When i connected to compaq monitor there was no display at all. The monitor light keeps on blinking. I can go to console bye ctrl+alt 1. How do i change the monitor type now? Xconfigurator is not available. Is there any other way by which i can change the monitor type through console?

You could either try pressing ctrl and alt and+ key (plus key at your numeric pad) and ctrl and alt and - key (minus key at your numeric pad). Doing so, it will switch between the display modes available.

Good Luck

You can edit /etc/X11/XF86Config
use the xf86config command.
