How does a server report ECC memory errors to Linux?

I just installed RedHat AS4 on a system with an Intel L440GX board w/512M of ECC ram. How does the reporting process for any correctable memory errors take place?

TIA,
Reggy

Only thing I know of is using memetest to bootup with and run through the diagnoistic tools. No idea as far as from a running system. That would be something related to the kernel. Might search google for kernel memory ecc checking or check out the latest kernel source and read through the many docs within it.
