How do I clear the memory cache on my linux server?

For some reason there is a lot of memory usage on my linux server, but I am not running anything major.

As viewed from my Plesk 7 reloaded control panel, here are my memory stats:

Memory Usage Total Used Free Shared Buffer Cached Usage
493.86 MB 480.93 MB 12.93 MB 0 B 54.16 MB 291.60 MB

There are 291 megs of cached memory, can't I free this up somehow?

Thanks,

Robert

This is normal behaviour for Linux, it aquires as much cache as possible to keep your system as responsive as it can.

It will automatically be reduced as you require more memory for other things.

Linux is simply taking advantage of the memory you have.
