How do I choose which soundcard will be the default?

I am using Slamd64 and I have an integrated soundcard and a soundblaster live soundcard. I use the integrated for applications like skype when using windows, but linux chooses the integrated soundcard as default, so it is used to play all other sounds as well. How do I choose which will be default?

i recompiled kernel with drivers in kernel instead of as a module, and now it is default without changing any settings
