Hardware raid 1 | Fedora 5 | 3Ware raid | boot

Hi Guys,

I am installing a fedora core 5 version on the server 5013C-MT.
Because the onboard Hardware raid controller (adaptec) does not provide this linux, I installed another Hardware raid from 3Ware (9500S-4LP). With this controller I was able to install Fedora core without any problems. After the installation I did some tests if the raid is working. This is what I did:
Pulling off one of the hard drives and moved some files. After that I pushed the hard drive in again I restarted the system. So far so good. During restart I got the message that the system is degraded and one drive is not in use. This case is described in the Manual. After I made the installation/config for rebuild the hard drives the system goes on booting and seems to work, but a restart shows that the hard drive (1)is still degraded and not in use. I can restart the system because I guess that the grubloader is on the other drive (2). My guess is supported of the fact that if I pull out this hard drive the system is not booting.
I read a lot of installing raid system but it is my first time. So I think that the grubloader is only on one of the hard drives, but that would not fix the problem with the not working rebuild.

Please help me Thanks
Stephan
By the way sorry for my english I am originaly from Germany.

do you have the management utilities from 3Ware installed on your server (3dm2) ?

You should be able to start a rebuild from within the management utilities.

If you don't have em, download the 3dm2 and cli utilities from 3ware.. (or grab the complete codeset.iso)

3dm2 yes

Hi,

yeah I did this right now and I was able to rebuild the hard drives.
I am writing a little documentation for me I can I upload it somewhere here when it is finished?
That goes to the Administrators. Because other people who have similar problems could use this.

thanks to 3ware support hotline
and thanks to you farslayer but you were a little to late :-)
