Hard drive temperature?

Is a hard drive supposed to get hot? How hot?
I'd guess my hard drive is ~35-40 degree celcius. Is this a problem?

depends on what type of drive.. IDE, SCSI, IDE 10,000 rpm (WD Raptor) but those temps seem well within the limits of a standard desktop drive in a system thats up to operating temp.

Thanks! I got IDE 7200 RPM. I was under the impression that a HD is supposed to remain at room temperature and I got a bit worried...

Correct it depends on the specifications of the particular drive. A typical Western Digital drive operating temperature range
is 41° F to 131° F
