Hard drive and master boot problems... MoBo maybe?

Ok so I’ve been working on this problem for weeks now its really bugging me so i figured i would ask the pro's

I' have go though 4-5 hard drive with this problem with the master boot records now i'm thinking the mother board is the culprit.

About 6-8 weeks ago i had this problem booting with the grub keeps telling me can not find that sector on HHD.
Well the drive i had in was acting up and i thought time for a fresh install and reboot install the lastest of suse 12.1 on a diffrent HHd.
Everything was working great then it came up with this boot error can't find master boot records so im thinking its my HHD because it was acting up too when i removed it.
So i bought a new HHD installed everything was working great.
Then i started have problems with my cd rom so i'm thinking PSU well i replace that too..
Then it was ok for a couple of days them it started acting up again now i can't get anything to boot but this thumb drive linux OS..

Sorry i was rambling sum but this is the jest of it multiple hard drive work great for like 2-3 day then but when i reboot it can't find the master boot and gives me a grub error this only
happens when my computer says on for days on end witch it does that all the time i never shut it down unless there is a storm or for some reason the OS directs me to..

Now the weird thing is this if i reinstall the OS and reboot it will work for a few days then it does it again..

Could it be a virus? I really thought linux was pretty impervious to virus's but i do know they are out there just not as many...
And i do have a drive that is my main storage for all my stuff that i never put my OS on but its been the constant though all this...

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and if there is any more info i need to provide let me know and i will do so thanks again...

Run hard drive diags on it. Run memtest for a few days. Running diags on the drive tends to work out your controller and wires and psu too.

There is very slim chance it is a boot virus. Could be one on your flash drives or network. Usually a full reload fixes that.

Ok so the memtest has been running for 12+ hours now with no errors now I know it goes thought 9 tests but I don't know if its setup on a loop ie. running over and over.
But I think that's how it works so chances are its not mobo or memory...

Ok so I installed linux again everything is ok so far lol i need to figure out how to run a diagnostic on my hard drive.. And figure out why my OS keeps asking for Root authorization for setting up a proxy? I never use them and never set anything up for that and the weird thing is they just click off them self if i just leave it up...

You get the disk from the OEM that made the drive. Seatools for Seagate and such. If not use a generic one like ultimate boot cd has.
