Boot problems, NTLDR missing but trying to boot on second hard drive
Am a brand newbie, you know the FNG to Debian's Woody Distro.
Have an Inspiron with two hard drives, on the internal a pure XP partition and OS. No problem. In the modular bay, Linux. It is configure with a small Dell Hard Drive Utility partition. The next is an NTFS partition. Afterwards is the swap partition and next the major Linux partition. I have configured the last partition as the boot partition where MBR and Lilo are supposed to be. However, at boot with a hit of the shift key, choices include 1 2 3 4. Hitting 4 just makes the hard drive spin. 1 takes me into the Dell hard drive utility; 3, nothing; and 2, NTLDR missing.
Hopefully will not have to remove internal HD, replace it with the modular's and insert the floppy into the mod. bay and create a bootable floppy.
What's wrong. Why won't Linux boot? If I do have to do as stated above, how will I then be able to fix the problem? Am seriously interested and concerned.
