Fasttrack sata and ft3xx.o and custom cernels build help needed.

Question in breef is> how to compile promise ft3xx driver with new custom cernel and make initrd correctly load it at boot as module.
Mobos affected are any promise integrated ones with 203xx series chip (fasttrack 20376, 20378 4000TX and etc. example A7V8X from asus)

This topic is actually been around there some times, but i had-nt seen any correct whole solution.

So purposes>1 some 2.4.22 or newer kernel, promise provides proprieatry driver, last compiles on only default kernels (not in 2.5 or 2.6)
it is no problem to make it, and have it in /lib/modules/kernel/drivers/scsi
but it is problem for me to start it with initrd in way i got scsi_mod and sd_mod loaded on my new kernel first.
without them there will be VFS kernel panic and it is not able to find / partition.

How must i start this new compiled kernel so it loads all 3 neccessary scsi modules, not only ft3xx.o. i am using grub (may also be lilo solution) and my kernel bzIimage is about 1,6 meg so no floppy solutions. (fstab and grub.conf is not reason it does not boot)

please read first those links:

http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread/t-50377.html
to get picture what is done allready and then start suggesting help.

Hi.

I am trying the same thing. I downloaded the latest stable kernel 2.4.22 and tried to load the promise module ft3xxx.o, but it gives a kernel panic vfs... Then I tried to install Red Hat taroon the beta for AMD64, but the driver is not accepted. Apparently the promise driver doesn't work with 2.4.22 or later?
