I've recently cloned my stsyem from a 40GB to 80GB hard drive.
With 40GB empty space, I tried to expand the partition using Logical Volume Management. When attempting to Extend the volume group partition, it found no hard drives to use.
You need to partitioning the extra space as a LVM partition.
Using fdisk, create a new partition using all remaining space and change the default type for LVM (8e).
After that you can use the LVM tools to extend the existing volumes. (I am not sure, but you may need to reboot after changing the partition table in order to lvm tools use the new partition table)
