Hi. Ive have just deleted my Linux partitions because, well, it didnt work out. So whist i wait for a distro which works better for me i need to expand my ntfs partition to take up the rest of the free space.
I have:
30 G ntfs windows.
2G FAT32 windows install files.
8G FAT32 files for music to share with linux.
512 MB windows swap files.
10 G free space.
Is there any way to do this for free? Or is there a fully working trial that i could use? (not a demo)
I am sorry to hear that your experiment with Linux did not live up to your expectations. As for resizing your NTFS partition there are several choices to choose from. Personally I used the QTparted (specifically the version that is installed by default in a KNOPPIX boot CD, which is a valuable tool in many different situations and something that I recommend to any geek) when reducing the size of my NTFS partition on my work laptop to make room for Fedora, respective links below:
But that is not your only option. Remember as a rule of thumb, any time that you are changing the size of an existing partition, you should ensure that you have backups of anything of vital importance because it is a real possibility that something nasty can happen. For some information on other partition resizing tools I would suggest looking at:
