Ethernet Print Server

I need to get an ethernet print server so I can continue using my trusty old HP Deskjet 930c

Any recommendations - maybe I could connect it to a BY Home Hub router and not need a print server?

Does the router have the capability to be a print server? If so, it needs to support your specific printer and of course linux. Many required special software which was Windows only.

The reviews indicate this server works with linux.

It would be easy to setup a wireless print server using a Raspberry Pi. But, by the time you buy the Pi, memory card and a case your cost would exceed that of the unit above.

It is time to buy a new printer.

That old HP is costing a fortune in ink cartridges. I got rid of a similar Deskjet 882C a decade ago because the cartridges dried out in 2-3 years even with minimal use. A common problem is that the drive belt wears out, resulting in wavy printout.

A monochrome laser printer will have much lower running cost. You can get one with wireless network connectivity built-in for essentially free. I have had good results with Brother.

Hurrah, When I took the serial lead out of the Deskjet 930c I saw there was a USB port - plugged into my new (to me) Lenovo usff i5 machine and it was recognised and print's just fine, life yet for this old £10 printer that I bought in 2008!
