Epson R320 Printer
Printer: Epson Stylus Photo R320
Connection: USB 2.0
Node: /dev/usb/lp0
Device port name: usblp0
I've tried using the R300 printer driver from Gutenprint/GimpPrint and the standard CUPS drivers for this (the R320) printer. In both cases, CUPS reports an error with the printer and cancels the print jobs. Something is definitely getting to the printer, because I have to physically unplug the printer to reset it...the power button won't work after I've tried to send a test job from CUPS. Even though Epson says the ESCP/2 driver should work, I find that it does not.
Epson doesn't support Linux. However, it does support Mac OS X. Since this is based on the Linux core, will (or should) the OS X driver specifically for this printer work in Linux? I pulled the driver file from Epson, but the resultant folder contains a .dmg file, which, from Epson's documentation, when mounted will result in a .pkg file for install on mounting. Can a .dmg file be mounted in a Linux system, and how?
I have no trouble accessing the MMC/SD card reader built into the printer.
SHORT FORM:
Can the Max OS X driver for the Epson R320 Printer be used in Linux?
IF SO:
How do I mount the .dmg image file and use the .pkg file stored therein to install the driver?
Thanks for any help!
