eject -r cdrom, or you may just need to umount /mnt/cdrom and then push the button

eject

You have to make sure you are out of the directory that it's mounted at, so make sure you are not in /mnt/cdrom

Cool

If using KDE you can right click on the CD-ROM icon and select eject this will unmount and eject the CD.

related but different problem:
I started to burn a cd (xcdroast 0.98alpha9), saw a config prob and stopped it.
Now the cdwriter (which is not mounted) will not eject.
I assume something is accessing the drive that I'll need to kill,
but ps aux doesn't show me anything that looks like xcdroast or cdrecord...
Do I have to reboot?!

p.s. I'm brand new here and may have set my options a tad too strictly..
(if so, sorry..) If you can't reply to with the system, send to [ bro at ufl dot edu ]

bro,

you'll probably get better results if you either search for your answer or post a new thread

There you have it! LQ helps newbies! Where would we be without LQ? Some oxymoron (Linux Knowledgebase) such as Windows Knowledgebase?
