DVD Burner Recommendations

I plan to make backup copies of my video movie DVD's and would appreciate feedback on which DVD Burners are easiest to set-up and work with Linux. I will be using either Suse or Knoppix. Live CD's of both distros work fine on my machine at this time. AMD Duron 1200, 512 RAM.

as far as i know, any internal ide burner will be equal in terms of setup. (correct me if i'm wrong.) the only place you are going to encounter problems is with the quality of the burner itself. i have a sony dw-d22a, and it is terribly finiky. that being said, the best advice i can give you is buy something from a quality, reputable brand. http://www.videohelp.com/ has reviews of various dvd burners, find a few you like, and see if you can get some information on them. good luck!

Personally I recommend Lite-On CD and/or DVD drives. They are inexpensive, and during the 3 years I have been using them, they have given me zero problems at all. That's just my own experience, obviously others may have other feedback. Good luck with it either way and Welcome to LQ
