DTF Drives & Linux?

Hopefully someone here can help me out with this. I am trying to get a Sony DTF2 tape drive hooked up to a Linux box running Red Hat 8.0.

I have been unable to find any Linux drivers for this device or any information about how to get it hooked up.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Need some additional information.

What is the model number of the tape drive? Does it have a SCSI or fibre channel interface?

If the SCSI card is configured correctly then check to see of the tape module st is being loaded with the console command lsmod. If not then
modprobe st

No other driver is required. If this is the only drive connected then it will be /dev/st0. You should also install if not already present on your PC the tape utilities called mt.

mt -f /dev/st0 status

Will output the status of the drive.
