Does my DVD drive play PAL?

I have a SONY DWQ120AB2 DVD drive in my computer. It can play DVD movies off of Netflix. I am wondering if there is some way for me to determine if it can run PAL DVDs, when I don't have any PAL DVDs to try it out in it. I want to buy some DVDs that were never released in NTSC format. (I am in USA)

Hi.

PAL won't be a problem. There may be some funkiness with regions, but I'd imagine that should be workaround-able if it is an issue.

(I'm in Region 2/PAL, and I can use DVDs from Region 1 and 2, PAL and NTSC).

AFAIK, it shouldn't matter if the DVDs are PAL or NTSC.

If you play them in Mplayer or whatever, it should deal with the different number of horizontal lines for you.

I think PAL v NTSC is only an issue on actual TVs, since the number of scan lines is fixed
