dev/scd0 error - audio doesnt play

In a nutshell..

I could play audio cds on mdk 9.0. Since upgrading to 9.1 I recieve the following error message upon mounting and at start up.

mounting local file systems :dev/scd0: Input/output error
mount: you must specify the filesystem type.

When i open the cd player..

It seems to read the cd, load the tracks and play but there is no sound.

I would really like to know more about the meaning of the error message and a direction as to what the problem is.
..I still have a few things to try out for myself but any help and guidance is appreciated.

Have you tried

/dev/sr0

(0= zero in sr0)

as the device name in /etc/fstab?

also use

auto

in the 3rd field of the relvant /etc/fstab entry

have a check in

dmesg | less

to see what its recognised as.

And make sure youve got the right device name in your cd player as well - I have /dev/sr0 in both my fstab entry and my cd player config.
