Talking Dell Optiplex 100 810 chipset video goes blank

Hey there. I am a newbee to Linux. I have just installed Freespire Linux 2.00 On my Dell Optiplex 100. I got it to installed fine with the onboard video. However I decided to install a separate video card. The computer will load Linux however when it finally gets to the log on screen the video will go blank. I took the card off and the machine will work fine with the onboard video. Can any one help me on this. I really dont like the onboard video. Also I have tried different Linux Distros and it does the same thing. In having an 810 chipset is there way to have different video card rather than having to use the onboard video. In the BIOS there is no way of disabling the onboard video.

you area able to use another video card sure, the only thing is, you will have to enable that video card in your kernel most likely, or get drivers for that video card from there site and install them before you actually inserting your video card. usually when ever you plugin 3rd party video card, that one will become primary.

also when you are saying it get to login screen, does it get to shell login, or your X login?

The system will boot to the grub screen then when it tries to get to the x login thats where it blanks out. Is there a file that it can boot the secondary card?
