CPU Heating problem!

When i was using win XP my cpu's temp was 35 -40 degrees.Now i'm using Slack 9.1 and it's 45-50 minimum.
My cpu is AMD XP 2600

Any ideas why this is happening?

Is that a speed step CPU? Could it be that WinXP was lowering the clock? Or perhaps you have a variable speed fan that slackware isn't putting on high speed like windows did because you don't have the ACPI stuff setup correctly. You know if any of your fans support this? And just so you know, according to the spec sheet the AMD AthlonXP is good as long as you don't get it over 90 degrees.

Acpi is working correctly.
But i think you're right. 50 degrees isn't that much.
I'll just wait and see if it is getting any higher.

thanx
