Corrupt 3D ATI 9800 SE Suse 9.1
So far I have been trying, and failing to get 3D acceleration working correctly in Linux. Whenever I get 3D acceleration enabled and go into a game the display will be garbled at random intervals. It will display fine for a few minutes, but then there will be parts of the screen that look like they are missing the textures. So far I have only attempted to get this working in Suse 9 and Suse 9.1. I have even tried using the drivers from Suse that will allow 3D acceleration. There should not be a problem with the card, as it renders correctly in windows. Has anyone had this happen to them. I am trying to figure out if I am just doing something wrong, or if it is something with this distro I am using.
I am currently using Suse 9.1, an ATI 9800 SE, 512 MB Ram, Athlon XP 1600, ECS K7V Motherboard (I believe, the manual isn't handy).
I may try a different distro over the weekend just to see if I have any more luck. Hopefully someone can shed a little more light on things.
Nope tried Mandrake 10 and when I use the ATI driver I have the same problems. It will work with the Mandrake driver, however that is very slow.
Has anyone had this happen to them?
