Question Compiling a driver for Fedora core 2??

I am asking if anyone can help me create a driver for my onboard Promise controller. The mother board is an Intel Entry Server Board S875WP1-E. It has two controller options, but I would rather use the Promise PDC20319 ATA-100. Promise does not provide a driver for this but claims I can compile one with their Linux compile kit. Located here:

http://www.promise.com/support/downl...ry=driver&os=4

I am a Linux newbie. How do I conquer this task? Thanks in advance.

btw, I do have Linux Device Drivers by O'Reilly. Will this help?

Moving this topic to Fedora forum (how do I delete???)
