Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Cirrus Logic GD 5465 hardware accelerated

I'm trying to configure a Cirrus Logic GD 5465 video card with XFree86 4.3.0 (RH9.0), the hardware acceleration check box from the redhat-config-xfree is not enabled... Can I activate hardware acceleration on this card?
The purpose is to use gxine DVD player with XFree86-Xv, I have an error in the configuration wizard while trying to use the Xv module...

According to the XFree86 web site this driver supports acceleration. Do you have any reason to suppose acceleration is not enabled (apart from the check-box)?

You could look at the config file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or the X11 log file /var/log/XFree86.0.log for evidence one way or the other. For example there may be an option "NoAccel" set in the Device section of the config file.

I'll check it out later at home if there's some config in XF86Config, I don't think so. My problem is that Xine DVD player gives an error while trying to detect the XFree86-Xv module. According to the how-to this module will speed up the Xine display, right now I see the film with lots of lost frames (big jumps in film image)...
