Cirago USB 2.0 External Portable Hard Drive 80 GB CST1080

I have the external hard drive stated in the title of the thread. Also can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Cirago-Externa...1599549&sr=8-1

Anywho, I plug it in, and the light on it flashes green to red every second. And I can't connect through it with nautilus. So I assume there's a missing driver possibly? I can't find it on the web if it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetingz!

What does your computer tell you?
(NOTE: Any output you choose to put in a replay should be encapsulated with [code] & [/code] tags.)

How to listen

1) Fire-up a Terminal.
2) Type 'dmesg', you should see a lot of hardware-related output.
3) Press enter a few times to get yourself a few blank lines.
4) Plug in your device.
5) Type 'dmesg | tail -50' look for differences.

You should see the USB device get picked-up by the usb-storage driver, and a few partitions should get detected (Example: sda [sda1])

Nothing?

As in the outputs didn't change? Try plugging in a single USB flash stick, see if that pops up. If not, do this;

1) Shutdown the box. Leave the External drive unplugged.
2) Power-on the box, login.
3) Wait about 4 minutes.
4) Plug in the drive once, wait two minutes.
5) Open a Terminal, type 'dmesg | tee -a ~/Desktop/output.txt'
6) Double-Click on the output.txt file that popped-up on your Desktop and slap it between some "code" tags here in LQ.
( [code] & [/code] )

Okay, too many "atkbd serio0" lines.
1) Unplug the USB drive. Wait 10 to 20 seconds.
2) Type out the below command, but don't press enter just yet.
Code:
dmesg | egrep -v "atkbd serio0" | tail -50
3) Plugin the USB drive, wait 10 seconds.
4) Press the Enter key for the above command.

It *really* looks like this USB device is not showing up. Does it have some sort of external power adapter, too?

I see from the pictures in the link you posted, that it is a 2.5" drive with a Y cable? Are both ends connected to the USB on the computer?? 2.5" external drives like that sometimes have trouble with power.

You could try using a USB hub its own AC adapter, to connect the drive to the computer.
