chassis (case) lock

I picked a decent PC from a yard sale.
IBM 300PL
I ran a few Live Linux CDs on it to check it out.
Everything works.

There are bunch of different things I can do with this.
The only thing missing is a Network Card.

I have a couple of spare NICs.

But the problem is that chassis has a lock on the back near the fan.

Without a key, I don't have too many options.

(It does not have USB ports so I cannot use a USB-NIC.)

Any suggestions?

a) pick the lock
b) break the lock
c) call a locksmith
d) contact IBM support to find spare key

Not sure what else to suggest; the latter two options are likely to be very expensive, relative to the system cost/worth. I can't imagine the lock to be terribly secure.

Hi,

Check with a local computer shop for a 'key'.
Some better locksmith shops have keys to open computer chassis.

You could go back to the person you purchased the computer from and see if they have the the key.

Do you have a link(s) to a description, specs, or pictures?

What kind of lock is it?
a) "regular" == tumbler,
b) round like a h/d tray,
c) other?

If "a)", I would consider forcing it w/ a flat blade screw driver; if b), I would try a key for a h/d tray.
