mke2fs -j -L Label /dev/hdaX
NOTE: The /dev/hdaX should be extra the partition which you created while installing, e.g. /dev/hda5. Label is whatever you want the label to be.
Thats all you have to do.
<edit> Oops, I see you only left room and didn't create the partition. OK:
fdisk /dev/hda
n<Enter> to create a new partition.
Either primary or extended depending on weather you left a primary partition available. If primary then you will have to choose available partition, 1,2,3 or 4. If extended then just accept the default partition number. Then <Enter>, <Enter> to use the remaining space. Then w to write, and q to quit. Reboot and use above command to make the filesystem.
