cdrdao and k3b detect cd burner, cdrecord doesn't
I've been having this problem with my cd-burner.
Truthfully, i havn't tried burning anything yet, but k3b is the only program that can detect my cdrom drive for some reason, as well as "cdrdao scanbus". cdrecord -scanbus doesn't work, and as i guessed, neither does the nautilus one.
When i type in cdrecord -scanbus in my terminal, i get this:
tim @ slackbox :: ~ >> cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
tim @ slackbox :: ~ >>
yes, i did run it in root as well
but when i use cdrdao scanbus, i get this:
tim @ slackbox:: ~ >> cdrdao scanbus
Cdrdao version 1.1.9 - (C) Andreas Mueleer <andreas@daneb.de>
SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty
Check (some website that i took out) for current driver tables.
Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'
ATAPI:0,0,0 IDE-CD , R/RW 4x4x24 , C12a
ATAPI:1,1,0 SONY , CD-ROM CDU76E-S , 1.0c

When i used k3b, it detected my scsi-emulated IDA cd burner. It was reported as /dev/sr0, /dev/scd0 also works as a cdrom drive, but it seems to be forcing /dev/sr0.
Here's the dmesg part about the scsi-emulation:
SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
hda: attached ide-scsi driver.
scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
Vendor: IDE-CD Model: R/RW 4x4x24 Rev: C12a
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
My linux kernel is 2.4.26
My distro is slackware 10.0
Any help would be appriated.
