hey
i'm a new user of linux
and I just installed Fedora core 7
and simply it can't find the CD ROM .. because i got some programs for linux ..
I get to storage drives
it can find the harddisk and the floppy A drive
no cd rom ? it was appearing in windows .. and i installed FC7 from it .. it works fine
what should I do..
please help I need this
thanks
That sounds rather unlikely. Yes, sometimes a distro can't find a cd/dvd player because of an unsupported controller but if that were the case Fedora would simply have failed to install. Do you see any references to a cd player in /etc/fstab. Do you see any such player if you install lshw (Add/Remove programs) and run lshw from the terminal? Doesn't the disk appear on your desktop when you place it in the tray?
well , how can i place the cd on the tray ??? .. is there any folder that i must go to ?? i searched for the cd in the storage drives .. and i didn't find it there ...
i find floppy A and harddisk drive nothing else..
thanks for replying
Hmm, I'm getting all confused now. I meant putting the cd disk in the cd drive tray, I don't see how you can't find your cd drive. If you slip in a cd, it should automatically appear on your desktop.
You can also look in the /media directory and verify whether there are any cd folders in there, or in the /dev directory although that one may be pretty confusing for someone who is new to Linux.
