cd rom not working in suse 10.2


hi every one,

i am novice to linux but still can make big moves,
i have HP Pavalion DV6114TX notebook pc..........
i have installed SUSE 10.2,
configuration.............
1.7 ghz centrino duo core cpu, 512 mb ram, nvidia 256 mb gpu, lightscribe enabled cd/r,dvd/r....
etc,

the problem is i am not able to access my cd or dvd rom,
linux is not detecting it.
although i have installed linux with same drive.

some one please help me............

perhaps you could specify how you are trying to access your cd/dvd drive and what the error message is you get.

i am trying to mount using mount /dev/cdrom
but not working.

basically when ever a pen drive or other removable media is attached to computer it automatically mounts it. and a kde window pops ups. and we can access it using /media/pendrive1
or /media/pendrive2

but i am not able to access my cd rom and i am so unhappy about it...
can u please help........

Do you have a data CD loaded into the CD drive prior to attempting to mount it?

Note that audio CD's lack a valid file system, so if you're trying to mount a music CD, the command will fail
