Cant install NVidia drivers on SuSe 9..

Greets,

I tried installing in SuSe 9, the NVidia Graphics Card drivers. I tried going into the Ctrl+Alt+F1 and Ctrl+Alt+F2 consoles, but it says X is running (Which technically it is)...

How can I install my Nvidia drivers on SuSe 9 as YOU doesnt seem to install it correctly? My main problem is getting a console without X, and then being able to go back into KDE and X...

I don't want to be stuck in Text mode...

So any help would be appreciated. :-)

BTW, my Graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce MX420 if thatd help at all (I know it isnt relevant =P)

Thanks!

Log out of X so you drop back to the KDM/XDM loggin screen. Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 like before.
Su to root.
Type in init 3
This will put you in multiuser console mode.
When you are finished, you can enter init 5 to restart x-windows or startx.

look at the /etc/inittab file. The comments near the top list the different run levels. On some systems there may be differences, but the list in this file will tell you which one to use.

Code:
# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by Mandrakelinux are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#
id:3:initdefault:
Another thing you could to is change the initdefault value in /etc/inittab from 5 to 3.
After you are finished installing the drivers, change it back before rebooting.
id:3:initdefault:
