Cannot install driver for ATi radeon 9800pro
I have downloaded a rpm-file from the ATi website and used alien to convet it into a deb.file. Then I tried to install it with dpkg and got some errors.
I am using Ubuntu 5.04.
]code]
# dpkg -i fglrx-6-8-0_8.14.13-2_i386.deb

When trying to uninstall xlibmesa-gl synaptics wanted to remove a lot of packages (like some gnome-packages, gimp and so on).
Do I have to choose between my favorite programs and drivers or is there someway to install the drivers without removing a lot of installed packages?
Regards.
