Question can a usb mouse and touchpad be friends?

Was up all, got another question for u guys....

During the install of mandrake on my laptop i set it up with a usb mouse but I dont want to cary the mouse around where ever i go. Is there a way i can set up my os to use both, mouse at home and the touch pad on the road. The touchpad works fine as i used it with a previous install. Is this a one or the other thing or is there a way I can use both. Windows can sooooo....LOL.

Thanks in advance.

Cool WORKS!!

COOL

Thanks 4 the help, i got both mice working in harmony...LOL.

Just one thing thow, the scroll on both of them dosent work, im sure its just a value in the device properties in the X11 config file but I got no clue what that value is. i added Option Buttons "5" and the scroll is a third button but it aint a scroll.... help would be greatly apreciated....

Oh yaa, one more thing, to any newbies who are gonna try this, keep this in mind. I broke my x-window in this process, not sure what i did to break it but I realized that in /etc/X11 there are backups with .old at the end of the config files. If you break yours too just remove your config file and create a copy of that .old file without the .old and reboot. When I did that everything was back to normal and i gave the modification another shot....

Anyways, hope someone can help me with that scroll issue.

Later all!!!

this should work

for the usb mouse use

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse2"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "3"
EndSection

you may need to add

Option "Buttons" "3" for new XFree

or

Option "Buttons" "5" for old XFree

It's likely to be "3"
