I made a backup dvd of all my music on a dl dvd. When I attempt to copy the files to the harddrive it stops on certain tracks and says it can't read it. Then it copys the file to the harddrive but not the whole track. Sometimes I'll get like 3min of it or sometimes just like 20seconds!
No, its not that. I forgot to mention that if I play the file in Realplayer from the dvd, it plays perfectly fine. As soon as I try to copy it to the hdd its a problem.
I've been trying it under Windows and I get this error message. "Can not copy <filename>: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)", but if I try to transfer just the one song it works for some of them.
crc is a data corruption error. it's possibly the media players may be able to ignore some of that.
When copying files the OS tends to dislike seeing an error stating a file is corrupt, and usually will halt the copy operation.
Bad RAM can cause crc errors when copying from Optical media. Defective drive, Bad media, so there are several things that could be causing the problem.
