although i installed driver for it,don't know how to configure it

ok,, hope u have identified the proper chip & instaled the rigth driver. now run the following commands as root

minicom -s

then u can set the device as /dev/hs***** or even /dev/modem & exit

then u wil se initializing modem..blah..blah

after that type

ati 1
ati2
......ati 7

u willget response..
if not ur modem is not installed properly


u can use kppp & set the device as modem to diap up & conect to the net

hsf modem

run hsfconfig as root after install of drivers

I have a similar problem, originally i installed the redhat 8 with the 2.4.18-14 kernel, downloaded the driver from the site written above and installed it, it worked very good and without any trouble.

Then i immediatelly update my kernel (what a newbie i am, i know) to the newest version 2.4.18-24.8.0 and since i could not used the modem on that version, i downloaded the newest that are avalaible at that site (i think for the kernel 2.4.18-19).

With that installed my modem is not working and when i boot to my original 2.4.18-14 kernel neither the modem works. I dont know how to make the modem work in the new kernel or at least uninstalled the drivers that are causing me trouble.
