boot 0.8 doesnt see knoppix filesystem

Trying this seemingly great and simple linux on usb and I've followed the directions I've read using winimage to create boot disk and then to add live cd iso.
syslinux boots then does linux24. after that, low level shell entered and error message:
Can't find knoppix filesystem.

I see it (big knoppix file) on the drive (USB stick) but something in the ____ needs to be directed toward this knop file?

Thanks
