I'm running ubuntu 5.04 on two machines and want them both to have Internet connectivity so... I went out and bought a Belkin 4 port router to accomodate them. I followed the setup instruction with the acception of course of using the install cd (for mac and windows). I get power on the router and with both cat 5s going fron the NICS to the router and then another cat 5 from the router to my wireless port, I get amber lights on the router and no connect6ivity> I'm stuck and not sure how to procede from here.
Go to a web browser on one of your machines, and try the address 192.168.2.1 (I have a belkin and that's the address for mine--but yours might differ. If that address doesn't work, the right one will be in the manual someplace)
I'm new to routers and just want to make sure I understand. A workstation connected to the Belkin router should be able to access a setup gui on the router via a browser using the router's factory assigned ip address? From there, is there a gui setup page where I can work on setting up my other machines to connect? Sorry for the excruciating newbism.

I just want to make sure I understand your setup. You have the 4 port switch (built into the router) and also a port labeled WAN. Is this correct? You have your 2 workstations plugged into ports on the switch. Then you have the cable from the WAN port going to ??? Is it going to your cable modem? Do you have a wireless internet provider and you connect through some kind of wireless bridge that you got from them?
I just want to make sure. If you have your computers plugged into the router's switch ports, you should be able to, as was said in a previous post, open up a web browser and go to 192.168.2.1 and configure your router.

Many Thanks,

Yep, that's right. As long as you have a machine connected to the router, it can access the control panel.
