Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Linux Compatible?

I am interested in getting a sound card.
I have been looking around, and I like the audigy 2 zs platinum.
I could not find that exact card in the HCL.

Does anyone have one of these working?

I am looking for 7.1 sound. Are there any good altenatives similar to the Audigy?

I will use sound card for movies, games, and music creation.
I would like to get the creative labs gigaworks s750 speakers soon.

My box is a:
AMD 64 3000+ 939
MSI Neo Platinum
1gig kingston value ram
2 wd 250g sata drives.
evga geforce 6800

I have onboard sound working on Fedora COre 3.
I am waiting for gentoo 2005.0 64bit to be released to switch distros.
This is not a dual boot machine. (just linux.)

Any help is appreciated.
I have searched HCL - Google - multiple forums. I know the ? has had to been asked, but I can't find the answer.

Regards,
Blair

The Audigy2 is not really designed for an audiohile. Its designed for gamers. The Audigy2 is good for gamers but for sound quality it is the worst. I suggest Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 (if you can find it) because it is designed for audiophile and it has a real 8 channel output. that can playback at 192 KHz at 24-bit audio resolution for each channel. After you get the Audiotrak Prodigy the speaker system Gigaworks s750 will not be very good. I suggest a sound system made by Adire Audio or by Vance Dickason at Parts Express. However, there is no player that outputs 8 channels. Only 6 channels will be heard even though alsa can output 8 channels.

Yes the Audigy2 Platinum is supported in Linux. A simple look at ALSA sound card database will tell that it is supported.
