Can someone please explain step by step EXACTLY what to do for a RHL 9 user?

I am very very new to Unix in graphical mode, been using it in text based more for 7 years
and my laptop runs extremely poor with these drivers

its a Compaq Presario 2525us 2.4 ghz 512 ram 64 meg graphics card so it should be able to play something without lag.

Please step by step here, I am getting confused already lol.
Much appreceated, Austin Smith

Lightbulb Radeon IGP 345M found

I have a VAio laptop and had my display driver uninstalled.
i found a download for it by following these steps:
Start>Help and support>
Connect to the VAIO Support Center>
DOWNLOADS

Enter your information in the 3 fields
Product:
Series:
Model:

(FOR ME IT WAS...
Vaio Notebook
FRV Series
PGC-FRV27 )

Click "Search"

Scroll Down the list till you find your driver. (Ati Radeon 345M)

CLick on the .EXE file

scroll to the bottom of the page and click
"Go to Step 2. Software Agreement"

CLick "Accept"

Open or Save the file

Finish downloading

Then install!

Restart your computer if necessary.

mine is an Compaq 2525us, it doesn't have that but I go to hp.com and type in Support and Drivers and look for them.

I can find the Windows drivers but its the Red Hat Linux 9 (RHL9) ones im looking for, because simply put it ignores my graphics card and plays anything graphics absolutely horribly...

(yet... suprisingly it renders lightwave animations fast... whats the deal)

Its a dual-boot laptop so any help on how to install the drivers on linux would be nice, again I am new to Xfree86 and graphical modules

What I wonder is if the VAIO driver is different from the Compaq driver considering its the same software package, but unfortunatly ATI doesn't support laptop drivers :-/

I have a question to you though - Does your IGP 345m give you a lot of trouble? Like blue screen when playing full 3d games for a long period of time, lag that shouldn't be (even for a laptop..)

I noticed when I installed the new driver that games worked better then the previous driver that I had.
I have NFS:Underground and before it kept giving me a blue screen after I played the game for a awhile, but now with the new driver I got it doesn't.

Yeah, every driver I choose from the selection choice failed except for the ATI Radeon 7000 it accepted, but of course it doesnt work like that model #. All graphics go extremely slow, that game chromowhatever it was called lags up everything that can be lagged up, and I have 2.4 GHZ and 1024 ram.... and its a 2d game.

I really hate having to use Windows for my work, Lightwave or 3d Studio Max 6 can't even work without the good drivers.
