Ati or NVidia

I am considering buying a new videocard and processor for my computer, so that it will be up to date when Doom3 comes. However I am not certain which videocard to choose.

My main concern is whether it is a good idea to buy an Ati card (I was thinking of an X800 when there are drivers for it). When I look at message boards there seems to be nothing but trouble with Ati cards in linux. Is it worthwhile buying an Ati card or should I stay with the nvidia cards which I have already experience with?

Thank you for your time

Andreas

I vote nvidia. It is easy to install the drivers, and with Madrake 10.0 official, it happens automatically.

ATI`s mobility Radeon 9600 (m10) is supposed to be a great graphics chip for gamers. But as RolledOat mentioned Nvidia has more support in Linux and it is also great for games, IMO Nvidia would be the best and easiest option. :-)
