Thanks in advance!

You should just be able to use the X.Org 'radeon' driver with this card?

Thanks for the reply but I don't really get what you mean? Can I just edit my xorg.conf file and put in ati instead of vesa? If that's the case I really need som pointers of what to change.

Thanks!

why need more help, you already said what you have to change.

Just change "vesa" to "ati" and you're done. In case you want to know the setting details to tweak the settings look at "man radeon".

Hihi, was it so simple!? Well, will this give me accelerated 3d graphics? My main problem is that I can't (with vesa) get a full screen movie run smoothly... I'm not much of a gamer but I need my movies!

I believe the correct entry would be 'radeon.'

Read over this thread for more detailed information about setting up your card (it's about a 7000, but there shouldn't be much difference configuration wise. Just a bit more editing of /etc/X11/xorg.conf):

Current Xorg drivers for ATI I believe support 3d and open gl support up to ati 9200 whether standard or mobility. Heres mine from notebook with 9000m.
Code:
# Xorg configuration created by system-config-display

Section "ServerLayout"
	Identifier "single head configuration"
	Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
	InputDevice "Synaptics Mouse" "CorePointer"
	InputDevice "Mouse0"
	InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
EndSection

Section "Files"

# RgbPath is the location of the RGB database. Note, this is the name of the
# file minus the extension (like ".txt" or ".db"). There is normally
# no need to change the default.
# Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together)
# By default, Red Hat 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of
# the X server to render fonts.
	RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb"
	FontPath "unix/:7100"
EndSection

# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
#	Option	"XkbModel"	"microsoft"

# Then to change the language, change the Layout setting.

#	Option	"XkbLayout"	"de"
#	Option	"XkbVariant"	"nodeadkeys"

# If you'd like to switch the positions of your capslock and

Awesome! Thanks man! I'll edit my xorg to look like yours at the DRI, Module and device sections... That should do it =)
