anyone had luck with a Lexmark x75 ??
I have by sister using a Red Hat 8.0 box, and they have just bought a USB only printer... Lexmark x75. Anyone know if this works under Linux, or more specifically RH 8 ??
I'll be googling in the mean time.. just thought I would throw this up here and see.

Very true I have a Lexmark X83 that I have been trying to get to work with Linux for about a year now. With no luck, I went out a bought a epson and it worked great. if you dont want to buy a new printer one suggestion that worked for my lexmark untill I had the money for the epson was to take a old system and thow windows on it and do a Samba share for that printer and it should work...of course that is if you have an old system laying around. Good Luck

Well.. as an update.. It did recognize the printer, via a lsusb... and I even was listed under RH's hardware manager, under printers. though when I tried to set up the printer, to /dev/usb/lp0 it would never work... said it sent the print job.. and never companied.. but it just wouldn't print.
Their pushing me to put the M$ crap on their box.. the way I saw it was.. I bought it.. but it together.... and put an OS that would not be in danger of infection when reading mail..
well, guess what, I got a lexmark x75, I am also running red hat 8 and given the choice, I'll either be taking it back or giving it away this Christmas, it is unacceptable to me that lexmark feels that Linux isn't important enough to make drivers for. As for ever buying another lexbarf product, I'll exercise my right as a consumer and stay away from their products, besides, epson does make better printers than they do, sorry for the atitude, but I value Linux and red hat more than some lame ass company that dosen't care about it's consumers. I use Linux and I have money, money that someone else will get for their products.
