Exclamation Alcatel Speed Touch usb in mandrake 9.1

Can someone please help me with my problem

I am running mandrake 9.1 and may i say it is refreshing change to using windows. I much prefer linux, but i have a problem in that i cant use my adsl connection in mandrake (yet)

My dial up modem is set to work ok, but my alcatel speedtouch is not working

i followed the wizard and downloaded the mgtm.o file and put it in /usr/share/speedtouch

however i cant get my adsl connection to start.

all the fields are filled in ok in the wizard eg. dns etc

so i opened a console and typed whereis mgmt.o and it came up as just mgmt.o: and nothing else.

so i typed cd /usr/share/speedtouch

and typed ls

and it was listed there so i cant understand it

also i typed lsmod

and there was no listing at all for the usb alcatel

i really hope someone can help me as i am desperate to bin windows and just use linux but this is stopping me

thanks in advance

ps, im a bit of a novice as you can proberbly tell
