Alcatel Speed Touch USB 330 + SuSE 9.1

First of all im sorry to ask this question again but i didnt understand the post about this subject that showed up in the search.

I just downloaded and install SuSE 9.1 Personal today and now i would like to get internet working on it aswel ofcourse. My modem is an "Alcatel Speedtouch USB 330" but i havnt got the slightest idea on how things work with linux as i have never worked with it before. So i was wondering if someone could explain me sttep by step how i would get my modem and internet connection working. I looked at the following link "h**p://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/05/configSpeedTouch.html" but i dont know if this also apply's to SuSE 9.1 Personal in combination with the alcatel speedtouch usb 330.

I would be glad if someone could explain me step by step what i would need to do to get my modem working.

Thanks in advance,

Dreamcatcher

Im afraid i need abit more then that, i tried a couple of things in that menu but i dont understand many of those things. so can someone pls explain it more widely ore tell me how they got their adsl connection with a speedtouch usb 330 working.

in the network services / dsl menu it didnt find any dsl devices although when i lookup the hardware on my computer it does detect the modem.

Thanks in advance.

That is strange, because the procedure below applies to Suse 8-9, but doesn't
list 9.1. I would have thought that they would have imbedded support. Maybe it is a
liscence issue and they can't include the software needed. Anyway, try to following.

http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/0...peedTouch.html

for the step
Make sure that the packages make, gcc, and glibc-devel are installed.
you can use Yast-->Add/Remove software. The packages are on your CD.
